Descendants of Charlie Morgan
The members that gather every year in July are descendants of Dennis and Louisa Morgan of Pickens County, South Carolina. They had seven children; Mary, Charlie, Van Buren, Hattie, Amanda, Samuel, and Louvenia. Some of Dennis and Louisa's children moved away, and today live in at least fifteen different states. Because we were scattered around the country, family members lost contact with one another. In the nineteen seventies however, the descendants of Charlie and Van Buren Morgan were reunited. When we met the Morgans in North Carolina my grandfather Erastus Morgan (Charlie Morgan's son) was still living. From the children of Erastus and Clara Morgan many grand, great- grand, and great- great grand children were born.

Michelle Morgan- web page coordinator
Welcome Morgan family members, adopted family members, and friends to the birthplace of our family tree. The Palmetto State invites you to our familys lineage native soil. Its good to go back to the old time ways, and examine our past in an effort to get a glimpse of our future. The African proverb "It takes a village to raise a child" is true, like wise it takes a family to give that child a sense of identity and key to its heritage. We the Morgan Family are a strong, proud, independant, hardworking, and educated people who will write our own story, and leave an outstanding legacy for others to emulate for years to come. Conceit, no just the knowledge of determination to succeed in a land in which we were once slaves and captives. Hello my name is Michelle Morgan this is my first attempt at doing a web page. Id often thought about it, but just never got around to doing it. Most of us have access to a computer, either at work, the library, or at home. This site is a work in progress so check back often for updates. One of the goals for this web site is to help our family stay connected, even though we live far apart. This site is an attempt to keep a record of past and current events of what Ive learned about our family history. If you have any news or events that you would like to share, please feel free to post a message or send it to me(email) and Ill post it. I sincerely hope that through this web page we can find other family members who can join us in celebrating what it is to be a MORGAN. I can be contacted at chellemorgan36@hotmail.com

The First Morgan Family Reunion 1978(Disney World)
For many years the Morgan's from South Carolina, who are descendants of Charlie Morgan, had been getting together at "Aunt Thelma's"(Thelma Morgan Robinson) house every summer. Claire Askew "Dedidra" who is the daughter of Thelma Morgan Robinson, met Windell Morgan while teaching at a school in Chester, South Carolina. Windell was from Wadesboro, North Carolina. Dedidra and Windell started talking and realized there was a possibility that they were related. Windell Morgan was the son of Van Buren Morgan and Charlie Morgan was Dedidra's Greatgrandfather. In nineteen seventy-eight we were invited to Fort Myers, Florida, to the home of Fredrick and Melvin Morgan. This reunion is known officially as the first Morgan Family Reunion. The Morgan Family Reunion is usually held the third weekend in July. Sometimes the dates have been changed to fit into prior plans or commitments, but it is always in July, and may be two and half to three days according to what the host committee has planned. The reunions use to come to each state every seven years. There has been a decline in people attending and some states have just dropped out. (Maybe we need to look at having them in states where we don't have family members.) Though we have seen a decline we will continue to have them for the ones who want to keep this tradition going. Remember you have to bring your children and encourage them to want to see family members, because these children will be the ones to keep it going after we are gone. I start watching the mail for my letter in January. I love going to the family reunions, I have been lucky enough to have been able to attend ALL of the Morgan Family Reunions, along with my sidekick (my daddy) Furman Morgan. I do realize that its not always possible to go, but I'll go as long as I can. I was fourteen when we had the first Morgan Reunion and Tangie was four. I look forward to seeing my relatives, and spending time with them every year. I love being a Morgan.
