Claywood Farm is home to the registered Morgan stallions Scattered Oaks Boldventur and Blue Spruce Intrigue - both of which are 100% foundation-bred (full Lippitt) with no outcrosses to other breeds since before 1900 - resulting in the highest percentage of the original foundation stallion's blood you can get in a 21st Century Morgan. Lippitt Morgans trace back to Justin Morgan through every single line of their pedigree thanks to the 25 Lippitt Foundation stock. Located in Little Mountain, South Carolina, we strive to breed Morgans with excellent temperament and conformation that will be superior performance horses for their owners. Although we have owned and trained horses for over 28 years, our Morgan interest was founded in 1993. Our horses are an excellent blend of old Morgan bloodlines that are meant to be USED for show, sport, work or pleasure. And they are expected to compete BAREFOOT, no matter what discipline they participate in. Sane minds, a willing attitude and a well-built body are requirements for all of our horses. While we feel that pedigrees are an important foundation to start from, we do not breed by papers alone. The overall mind and conformation of each individual is evaluated and a cross is determined based more upon each horse's merits or weaknesses than bloodlines. It is our goal, however, to avoid all modern outcrosses, especially those bloodlines seen in many of today's "modern" Morgans.
Our farm is situated on 15 acres in the piedmont area of South Carolina and we currently have 8 Morgans in residence. Claywood Farm is a member of AMHA, GMHC & the Lippitt Morgan Breeders Assn.
